Citizen of the Week
Morris Pate is this week's COW. His nominator writes, "Morris was a police officer for 33 years in six departments. He served Eureka for 22 years and retired on April 28. In Eureka, he was a patrol officer, a detective and, for the past 12 years, assistant chief of police. Morris was active in the Blue Knights, a police motorcycle organization, and in fundraising for Special Olympics. He helped organize and participated in Eureka's Polar Bear Plunge for the past two years. Most importantly, he was always a police officer people could come to and rely on. He cared about his community and the people he worked for. He was loyal and dedicated to the city and the department."
