Art is in the eye of the beholder

Wednesday, June 9, 2010

Opera in the Ozarks General Director Jim Swiggart invited local artists and photographers to Inspiration Point Friday, June 4, to shoot reference photos that artists use for preliminary sketches or to understand a costume detail or color.

Paintings and sculptures created from these photographs will be among other Tosca, Carmen and Don Giovanni artworks presented at the Second Annual Art in Opera group show at Inspiration Point, June 18 through July 17.

Professional photographers Richard Quick, Ron Lutz and Edward C. Robison III shot pictures to capture artistic quality, beauty, and emotion. Local artist Larry Mansker directed the shoot, and Eureka Springs artist Julie Kahn-Valentine brought a sketch pad and chalk stick instead of a camera for her preliminary sketches.
