Jim owned and operated Falcon Travel for ten years. He was of the Christian faith, and performed weddings at the Old Stone Church for four years. He worked for several local businesses and managed Eureka Smokes at time of death. He loved mountain biking, hiking, camping, kayaking and scuba diving with friends and family.
He is survived by parents; Dave and Shirley Bird, and a sister, Debbie Colvin, all of Eureka Springs; one brother, Jack Hensley (Daphne), and nieces,Magen, Amanda and Emma Kate of Monett, Mo.; life partner, Bobbie Sue Foster; maternal grandmother, Josephine R. Willford; uncle Kenneth Bird, of Eureka Springs, Ark.; uncles Stephen Bird (Debbie) of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Larry Willford (Joan) of LaPorte, Colo; Leon Willford (Deb) of Cowdrey, Colo.; god-daughter, Emily Lovejoy; cousins Becky (Thomas) Achord, of Eureka Springs; Connie Barnes (Steve), Rusty Willford (Kristie), of LaPorte, Colo.; Ty Lee Willford and life partner Karen Paintin of Cowdrey, Colo.; several relatives in Colorado and a multitude of friends.
Jim was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, James H. and Mabel Gray Bird and maternal grandfather, Robert K. (Bert) Willford.
A Gathering of Remembrance with family and friends will be held 5 -- 7 p.m. Thursday, July 15, at Nelson's Chapel of the Springs in Eureka Springs. Celebration Service 10 a.m. Friday, July 16, at Faith Christian Family Church with Pastor Gary Hayhurst officiating.
