FAYETTEVILLE -- Numerous students of the Eureka Springs School District Band Department received scholarships to the University of Arkansas Band camp, Jazz camp and the Opera of the Ozarks piano camp recently. Ten students were selected to participate in week-long music camp hosted by the University of Arkansas.

Students were placed in bands according to their level of achievement and exposed to rigorous rehearsals, private lessons, and masters classes.

Among those participating in the camp was Lauren Archibald, who received the outstanding musician award for the Janzen Band Group that includes a scholarship for half tuition to next year's band camp.

Students from Eureka Springs who received partial scholarships include Jeremiah Alvarado-Owens, Heath Birchfield, Glenn Dickson, Indigo Fischer, Kimberly Kavanaugh, Clara Rorick, Kamelle Webb, Nyla Wells and Terra Winfrey. High school student George Dickson attended the senior music camp.

Taylor Little (percussion) and Kyla Boardman (clarinet) received a scholarship to attend a similar camp at Drury University in Springfield, Mo., and Colleen Boardman received a full scholarship to the Inspiration Point piano camp.
