Don't miss HI show/sale!

The Holiday Island Art Guild is hosting its 22nd Annual Labor Day Art Show/Sale Sept. 3, 4, and 5, at the Barn on Holiday Island. Barn doors are open 10 a.m. -- 4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and noon 'til 4 on Sunday. Show judge is Terry Russell, local artist/art educator.

Beaded bliss and flame painting

The Art Colony welcomes Melanie Myhre, David Rush and Amanda Banaszek to its studios.

David Rush offers custom framing and matting in addition to his amazing flame art and abstract pieces Melanie Mhyre's wonderful photography and original art are available in their new studio.

Amanda Banaszek has opened Beaded Bliss. Her intricate beaded jewelry, has restful dragon flies, deep layered florals and stunning design.

Wine & cheese reception

In conjunction with the Holiday Island Art and Music Guilds, the Holiday Island Chamber of Commerce is hosting an Artists' Wine and Cheese Reception, Friday, Sept. 3 at the Information Center, 4 -- 7 p.m.

Art will be on display and available for purchase, and a silent auction will be held. The artwork and silent auction items will be available for viewing by 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 3.

A portion of the sales will benefit the Holiday Island Chamber. Music will be provided by the Holiday Island Music Guild.

UP in the park

The Eureka Springs Downtown Network (ESDN) brings the heartwarming family film UP to Basin Park on Sept. 5, 8:30 p.m. Follow the harrowing adventure of 78-year-old Carl Fredricksen who ties thousands of balloons to his home to fulfill his lifelong dream to see the wilds of South America.

Fresh popcorn, brownies and limeade await at the concession stand at 7:30. Bring a chair and, remember, rain cancels. Our last film will be The Music Man, Sept. 12.

2nd Saturday Tales

Twilight Tales, a local readers' theater production sponsored by Eureka Springs Downtown Network and the Preservation Society, is being performed every month on the second Saturday through October at 5:30 p.m. in Basin Park.

Fall for an autumn workshop at ESSA

The Eureka Springs School of the Arts (ESSA) has openings available for a workshop with Mary Tait, "Basic Chair Slipcovering," and Eleanor Lux, "Leaping into Bead Sculpture, " Sept. 16 -- 18. In addition, Sept. 30 -- Oct. 1, Valerie Damon will help everyone gear up for ESSA's 8th Annual Mad Hatter Ball with her two-day "Face Painting" workshop. Valerie will also give tips on creating a hat for the ball.

Real, live nunsense

RLT (Real Live Theater) will perform the hilarious revival of Nunsense, Sept. 17-19, 23-26, 30, and Oct. 1-3 at the Victory Theater, 116 South Second, in downtown Rogers.

Performances are at 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. The theater opens an hour and a half before show time.
