Henry Luther Martin, 67, of Eureka Springs, died Monday, August 30, at his home after a long battle with cancer.
Henry was born March 19, 1943, in Ashland, Kansas to Allen and Ruth (Knierihm) Martin.
He graduated from Alva Oklahoma High School in 1961 and Northwestern Oklahoma State University in 1965 with a B.S. in Education, and continued his education until he had his Masters degree. He taught for 33 years before retiring to Eureka Springs 11 years ago.
Henry and his wife, Carol, had a teddy bear business that allowed them to travel all around the country, and Henry also enjoyed working with the Boy Scouts for many years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Allen Martin, and two brothers-in-law, Dave Hada and Richard Weaver.
Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Carol Martin of the home; two sons, Chadwick Martin and his wife, Linda, of Eureka Springs, and Detrick Martin of Berryville; one grandson, Dustin Martin; his mother, Ruth Martin of Alva, Okla.; one brother, Robert Martin and his wife, Millie, of Alva, Okla.; one sister, Nancy Hada of Cherokee, Okla; one sister-in-law, Alice French of Holiday Island; and numerous other family and friends.
The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date. Cremation arrangements made under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers.
