The family moved to Tulsa where Katy graduated from Central High in 1944. Katherine married Russell Vernon Clay June 2, 1946 at the church in which they met before the war. They enjoyed 63 years together.
Katherine began her career at Public Service of Oklahoma after attending business college in Springfield, Mo. In addition to being a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker, she continued to work outside the home throughout the years.
Katy and Russell moved to Eureka Springs in 1977 to open the tearoom she had always dreamed of, Katy's Korner, popular with locals and tourists alike. She published two cookbooks to share her recipes with her customers and friends.
Katy and her friends began a prayer group in her home which led to the founding of Faith Christian Fellowship Church. After Russell moved the Queen Anne mansion from Carthage, Mo., to Eureka Springs, they established and operated Mimi's restaurant.
Katherine is preceded in death by her beloved husband and parents, brother and sister. She is survived by four daughters, Russene Clay; Deborah Clay; Kathy Harrison; Dee Ann Garrett, 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at the Unitarian Church, 17 Elk St., at 1p.m., Saturday, Jan.15.
