Mary Esther Olsen, 82, of Eureka Springs, died Friday, February 18. She was born June 25, 1928 in Yorktown, Texas, to Joseph Janyssek and Susanna Kolodzeij Janyssek.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Alphonse Janyssek, and sister Eleanor Hargis.

Before moving to Paso Robles, Calif., in 1968 with her former husband, Lt. Col. George Olsen, Ret., Esther was a member of several officers' wives' clubs.

She was also a Girl Scout leader and loved to host get-togethers for family and friends. She had a remarkable talent for sewing and was an excellent homemaker. Esther's warmth and ready laughter will be deeply missed.

Esther is survived by four children, Angela Olsen of Paso Robles, Calif.; Georgia Olsen Maberry and husband, Todd, of Eureka Springs; Michael Peters and wife, Prudi, of Kerrville, Texas; Suzette White and husband, Stuart, of Joshua Tree, Calif.; one sister, Irene Barker of Marshall, Texas; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Yorktown, Texas.
