Rogene Ann Christensen, 77, of Holiday Island died Wednesday, March 23. She was born to Ernest and Tennie (Schlesinger) Lees on August 14, 1934 in Shelby, Neb.
She grew up in Shelby and graduated from Shelby High School and later from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. In 1959, she married Darrell Christensen.
They resided in New Jersey and Chicago before settling in Lincoln, Nebraska from 1967 through 2002. She taught country school in Shelby, and Home Economics at Lincoln East High School from 1977 until 1996.
Rogene and Darrell have resided in Holiday Island, Arkansas for the past nine years. Rogene was a member of Holiday Island Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her husband, Darrell, of Holiday Island; son Clark Christensen of Oklahoma City, Okla.; daughter Leslie Nuckolls and husband, David, of Alpharetta, Ga.; daughter Lisa McManaman and husband, Kevin, of Lincoln Neb.; and grandchildren David and Natalie Nuckolls of Alpharetta, Ga., and Ryan and Grace McManaman of Lincoln, Neb.
A memorial service was held at Holiday Island Presbyterian Church on Sunday March 27.
