Brother George Christopher Conine, OBL, OSB, of Eureka Springs died April 24, 2011 at Washington Regional Hospital in Fayetteville of medical complications associated with a stroke.

Brother George lived and taught in Morrilton and Fayetteville schools. He was an alumnus of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and had enrolled in their organ and body donor program.

Brother George led a dedicated life as an associate Oblate of St. Benedict.

Known living family members are his brother, Charles (Jan) Conine of Little Rock; a nephew, Chuck Crawley of Lowell; and a niece, Tammy Rauch of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Brother George was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church of Eureka Springs. He was an associate of the Benedictines at Subiaco Monastery in Subiaco, Ark., and he was a dear friend of the Brothers and Sisters of Charity in Berryville.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated for Brother George at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Eureka Springs on Thursday, April 28, at 11 a.m. by Fr. Shaun Wesley, celebrant, and Fr. James Fanrak, con-celebrant.
