Transition-Cleta Irene Magness, May 29, 1940 -- July 10, 2011

Cleta Irene Magness, 71, of Clifty, Ark., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 10, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale, Ark.

The daughter of H. Myers and Minnie Meadows Rush, she was born May 29, 1940 in Treat, Ark. She was an Arkansas Tech University graduate with a Master's in English, and taught at Hector Public Schools for 27 years beginning with Kindergarden education.

Later, Cleta taught 3rd grade and at the time of her retirement she was teaching reading recovery. She was a member of West Side Church of Christ and a very active member of the West Side singles group. She enjoyed painting, pottery, swimming, camping, flower gardening, reading and bird watching. Cleta's greatest joy came from spending time with family and reading to her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Nancy Rowe of Clifty, Laura Relic and husband, King, of Mt. Ida; son, Lloyd Magness and wife, Sherry, of Russellville; 12 grandchildren, Brian Rogers, Aaron, Amber, Celeste and Rachel Relic, Katie Austin, Taylor Magness, Seth, Jennifer and Jacob Rowe, Kasey Todd, and Tracy Phipps; 5 great grandchildren; a brother, James Rush of Russellville.

Funeral was July 13 at Humphrey Chapel, and burial was at Shannon Cemetery in Treat. Memorials may be made to Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Road, Springdale, AR. 72762. Internet obituary and on-line guest book are available at www.humphreyfuneral.com.
