Marie Hale Carter, a resident of Eureka Springs, and 55-year resident of Berryville, was born June 28, 1923 in Oak Grove, Ark., a daughter of James Blaine and Clara (Scoles) Hale. She departed this life Thursday, Sept.15, in Pea Ridge, Ark., at the age of 88.
Marie was a homemaker. She was also a member of the First Methodist Church in Berryville.
She is survived by one son, Abe Carter of Atlanta, Ga.; one daughter, Ann Carter of Eureka Springs; two nephews, Floyd Alan Hale of Hot Springs, Ark., and James Edward Hale of Cullman, Ala.; and a host of other friends and loved ones.
On April 15, 1945, Marie was united in marriage with Arthur Carter, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her parents, James and Clara Hale; three brothers, James Hale, Lloyd Hale and Floyd Hale; one sister, Dorothy Dodgen; and one infant son, Gary Wayne Carter.
Funeral Services were Sept. 19 at the Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel with Reverend Stan Adams officiating. Interment followed the service in the Hale Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.
