Harry Bowen, April 7, 1930 -- Oct. 26, 2011

Harry Bowen, son of Claude and Virginia Bowen, was born on April 7, 1930 in Chicago, Ill. He passed away on October 26. During the Korean War he served in the U.S. Air Force, and later he became a computer programmer/technician at the M&I Bank in Milwaukee, Wis. He retired in 1991.

Harry has been visiting Eureka Springs since 1960 where his parents, Virginia and Joseph Krause, operated several businesses. He moved to ES in 1995. He loved the arts' community, and became a supporter and collector of art by local artists. He attended art classes and developed a skill and style of his own. His increasing involvement with art introduced him to local artists, among them Elizabeth W. who became a close friend. Harry would often visit his business owner friends where he would dine or chat, especially with John/ Bill, Alvin/Charlie, John R., Mark H. and Catharine/Amy.

He enjoyed attending art shows, parades and festive occasions, especially costume events. Harry is survived by his sister and brother-in-law Doris and Jack Giertz, one nephew, three nieces and a close friend, Don B. His friends: Mark J, Barbara /Sandi, Chuck R, Bob H, Renee/Rick, Dave and Vera.

After cremation he will be interred at Clarendon Hills Cemetery, Westmont, Ill., next to his father's grave. Memorial donations may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
