Transition-Melinda Ann Bowles, Nov. 1, 2011
Melinda Ann Bowles (also known as Angel Bowles), a resident of Eureka Springs for three years, crossed over November 1, 2011 at her home. Melinda suffered cancer of the larynx.
She was born in Bitburg, West Germany, and was proud of her German and Viking heritage. Melinda has been a naturalized American citizen since the age of two.
Melinda married Carl Bowles Nov. 12, 2005, at the Canterbury Wedding Chapel in the Excalibur Hotel in Las Vegas. One reason she and Carl lived in Eureka Springs was because it reminded her so much of her homeland in Germany.
Angel became an actress in 2002 when she went to Arizona. She became a member of the Arizona Gunfighters Group doing live stage performances. She and Carl went on to do two live TV events and appearances in the Fiesta Day Bowl Parade.
After returning to the Ozarks, semi-retired, Melinda and Carl performed as Missouri regulars for the South in the documentary of the re-enactment of the Battle of Pea Ridge by request. Their last performance was on the streets of Eureka Springs in the re-enactment of the First National Bank Robbery.
Melinda was raised by her grandmother, on her father's side, who lived in southwest Missouri. She grew up in an old southern Missouri mansion, not restored, in the country. She was deeply proud of her Ozark heritage going back six generations.
She was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
She was affiliated with the Wiccan Community as a Pagan High Priestess of the High Order of the Mists of Avalon.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Please send donations for burial and funeral services to her husband: Carl D.
