Another View - Do you want Chinese fluoride in your drinking water?

The Arkansas Legislature, at the very end of the last session, without any public notice, very quietly passed a law that mandates 34 water districts in Arkansas to add fluoride to drinking water. Do you know where this fluoride originates? China.

China makes it so cheaply that no one else can compete. Do you know why it is so cheap? The EPA lists Chinese fluoride as a byproduct of the Chinese phosphate fertilizer industry and the Chinese aluminum industry. They also list minerals in this fluoride.

Instead of thinking "fluoride" in my drinking water, try thinking "aluminum, lead and mercury" in my drinking water.

Do you know another reason it is so cheap? Because China does not have the consumer protection standards we have in this country. Do you want to rely on China to protect your health and the health of your children and grandchildren?

Officialdom says that when the aluminum, lead and mercury are dissolved in your drinking water the amounts are so small that they are not harmful. Think of your teenage son at football practice on a hot summer's day drinking a quart or more of water; how will his body react to this overdose of fluoride? We do not know.

Think of your aged parents drinking plenty of water; how will their aged bodies react to doses of aluminum, lead and mercury?

We do not know. What one person's body can tolerate can be harmful or fatal to another person. Adding fluoride to your water is like playing Russian Roulette with your health!

What does it say on a box of fluoride toothpaste? "Do not swallow!" Why? What is the mother of a newborn told? "Do not make your child's formula with fluoride water." Why?

When water boards have sent off requests to fluoride suppliers for a list of the minerals in their products they have never gotten any answers. Why?

Do we need fluoride in our water to protect our teeth? Absolutely not. Brushing once a day with a fluoride toothpaste gives you all the protection you need.

Are there harmful side effects to fluoride? Yes. Fluoride has been linked to hyperthyroidism and to harmful side effects in pregnant women, the aged and those in poor health.

What will this cost? Local water boards will have to make extensive renovations to their structures and equipment to comply with this mandate. Estimates usually start at a million dollars.

How much water is actually drunk my humans? In some water districts it is estimated to be one percent. Where does the other 99 percent go? Well, chickens on poultry farms are not going to get cavities, the shower heads are not going to get cavities, the toilet bowls are not going to get cavities and the lawns are not going to get cavities.

Do you really want your local water board to spend over a million dollars so chickens don't get cavities?

I do not vote for political parties; I vote for individuals and principles.

I was at the Republican Forum in Berryville last Monday night to see if I could interest anybody in the subject of fluoride. I listened to Bryan King describe how lobbyists will offer politicians political contributions in return for their votes. He said he had voted against this fluoride mandate every time it came up. I don't know Bryan King from Adam, but I feel if you don't support politicians with principles that you get the other kind and you deserve it!
