May 14

11:53 a.m. -- A person came to the police station to report losing a passport.

12:06 p.m. -- A witness reported seeing a woman cutting flowers at Harding Spring and place them in her bag. Police searched for but did not encounter her.

May 15

1:07 a.m. -- While on patrol, an officer discovered that the high school had been covered in plastic wrap, sticky notes and yarn, and all the trash cans had been moved to the center of the parking lot.

6:05 a.m. -- Intrusion alarm sounded at a business on U.S. 62. Responding officer discovered the employee on site could not verify the pass code, but everything was okay.

10:43 a.m. -- Two dogs were captured at a motel and eventually reunited with their owner along with a warning.

1:58 p.m. -- Officer red-tagged a vehicle that had not been moved for two weeks.

3:28 p.m. -- Central dispatch alerted ESPD to a 911 hangup call with no response on the callback. Responding officer found everything okay and no one knows where the call came from.

5:08 p.m. -- A driver fell off her moped downtown. There was no injury.

5:09 p.m. -- An alarm company reported an alarm sounding at a local business but officer discovered nothing amiss.

7:28 p.m. -- Another alarm from downtown sounded, and a neighboring business reported it. Turns out it was a smoke detector downstairs.

8:53 p.m. -- Caller alerted ESPD to a woman carrying a child in a burlap shoulder bag on Hwy. 23 South. Looked like she might need help. Officers searched for her but did not encounter her.

May 16

8:10 a.m. -- Administrator of a care facility reported a verbal altercation between residents.

11:31 a.m. -- Alarm company reported a robbery alarm going off at a bank but the employees said they never heard an alarm. False alarm.

2:09 p.m. -- Officer had a vehicle towed that had already been red-tagged.

4:32 p.m. -- Caller from a motel asked for police assistance because a man sitting on a motorcycle drinking beer and watching females in the swimming pool was making people uncomfortable. The male was gone when officers arrived.

4:33 p.m. -- There was a two-car accident in front of the Crescent Hotel.

5:01 p.m. -- A tour bus drove up Spring Street, but it had a permit for the Historic Loop only, not downtown Spring Street. Officer advised the driver how to get to the Crescent Hotel but stay off Spring Street.

6:33 p.m. -- A male was reportedly running into traffic, stopping people and asking for a ride. He allegedly punched a vehicle and yelled at passersby. He was gone when officer arrived.

11:56 p.m. -- A traffic stop resulted in the arrest of two persons. Driver was arrested for DWI, driving left of center, no driver's license and an open container. Passenger was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, two counts of instrument of a crime and an open container.

May 18

2:24 a.m. -- Routine traffic stop resulted in the arrest of driver for DWI, driving on a suspended license, driving left of center, and a broken taillight.

3:02 a.m. -- Dogs were barking loudly according to the caller. Animal Control was notified for followup.

6:41 a.m. -- Someone defecated in front of the public bathrooms. Public Works was notified of the situation.

9:50 a.m. -- Employee of a business reported a male pacing around and looking into vehicles in a parking lot. Officers spoke with him and he said he was waiting for a friend to pick him up.

2:08 p.m. -- Child Protective Services requested a welfare check on two young boys who were left by themselves. After the officer responded and got information. CPS staff said she would follow up.

10:55 p.m. -- Motel guest called to report an apparently intoxicated woman banging on a neighboring door. Officers responded and discovered the lady was trying to get her daughter out of the room. Officers got the daughter's attention and she left with her mother.

11:25 p.m. -- A noise complaint came to ESPD about loud music in the vicinity of the library on Spring Street. Responding officers discovered the music was coming from the top of the hill, and the music was turned down.

May 19

12:58 -- Motel called to report large group of bikers parked in front of the motel and apparently just hanging out. Responding officers discovered they were waiting for the rest of their group.

1:36 a.m. -- Routine traffic stop resulted in arrest of the driver for DWI, speeding, no insurance and expired tags.

1:41 a.m. -- Another traffic stop resulted in arrest of the driver for warrants out of Eureka Springs and Carroll County.

2:57 a.m. -- During patrol, officers discovered an individual sleeping in his car in a parking lot. He was arrested for public intoxication and possession of drug paraphernalia.

3:37 p.m. -- ESFD was alerted to a natural gas smell at a residence near downtown. They discovered a valve had been left open and they shut it off. Gas company came to check it out anyway.

3:50 a.m. -- County Dispatch had received a 911 hangup call from an address in Eureka Springs. Officer who responded found that address did not exist but he patrolled the area and found everything to be okay.

3:53 p.m. -- An individual reported a theft near downtown, and ESPD added extra patrols for that area.

4:26 p.m. -- A concerned witness saw a pickup being driven with three children aboard not wearing seatbelts. Officer searched the area for the vehicle but did not encounter it.

9:07 p.m. -- ESPD was alerted to a domestic battery in progress. There were weapons in the house but no one was armed at the time. EMS also responded and transported one person to ESH and another to Berryville. The person transported to ESH was released and arrested by ESPD.

10:13 p.m. -- Someone backed into another vehicle in a parking lot. Officers took the report.

May 20

2:02 a.m. -- A guest at a motel reported that her sister's boyfriend was trying to break into their room. Responding officers arrested the individual for public intoxication.

3:31 a.m. -- Sheriff's office alerted ESPD to a motorist who was lost and headed toward town from the west. Officer responded but did not see the vehicle. Sheriff later reported that persons at an inn had heard her distress over the radio and went to help her out.

3:31 a.m. -- Sheriff reported two intoxicated teenagers were leaving Berryville headed toward Eureka Springs. Officer were looking for the vehicle but did not see it.

7:56 a.m. -- Officer on patrol noticed a door open at a closed motel. Upon inspection, he found the room had been vandalized.

8:29 a.m. -- A car in a motel parking lot had been bumped into overnight, but the owner decided against filing a report.

11:27 a.m. -- Officer fixed a malfunctioning change machine.

3:04 p.m. -- Guest at a motel asked for officer assistance because of an altercation with the manager. After speaking with the officer, complainant went to another motel.

7:58 p.m. -- Officers responded to a loud disturbance involving three individuals at a restaurant. The complainant and her husband left after talking to the officer.

10:41 p.m. -- ESPD was alerted to a possibly drunk driver in town. Officers watched for but did not see the vehicle.

May 21

3:39 a.m. -- A passerby reported three or four persons apparently hanging out in the parking lot of an apartment complex, which was unusual for the early hour. They were gone by the time responding officer drove by.

6:16 a.m. -- Owner reported a break-in and robbery at a local business. Officer responded and filed a report.
