Norman Douglas Charleville, Sr., 80, of Eureka Springs, formerly of Festus, Mo., passed away May 28, 2012 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Mo. He was born January 26, 1932 in Crystal City, Mo., the son of the late Marie (nee Carron) and Jesse Charleville.
He is survived by his wife Barbara (nee Akers) Charleville; sons Norman "Doug" (Maribel) Charleville, Jr. of Norfolk, Va.; and Jeff Charleville of Festus; daughters Cheri (Dena Hibbard) Charleville of Festus and Elizabeth (Rich) Gautner of DeSoto, Mo.; sisters Ann (the late Harvey) Becker of Festus and Delores (the late James) Mira of Crystal City; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Lanny M. (Marian "Sue" survives of Festus) Charleville; sisters Catherine (the late William H.) Schumer, Gertrude Courtney, Rachel Charleville and Jessie Charleville.
He worked as a machinist retiring from Sunnen Corporation in St. Louis and later for Fasco in southwest Missouri.
Visitation is from 4 -- 8 p.m. May 31 at Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus. Funeral services 10 a.m. Friday, June 1, at the funeral home, officiated by Rev. Tony Townley, pastor of Wesley Memorial and Plattin United Methodist Churches. Interment in Presbyterian/Methodist Cemetery in Festus. Memorials in lieu of flowers are preferred to the USO.
