Jo Kennedy, Jr., a resident of Holiday Island, Ark., was born February 21, 1920 in Tonkawa, Okla., a son of Jo Kennedy, Sr., and Daisy (Yearout) Kennedy. He departed this life June 6 at his home in Holiday Island at age 92.
Jo proudly served in the United States Navy as a Lt. j.g. during WWII on a minesweeper, the USS Specter.
He was an architect for many years, and a life-time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Eureka Springs.
At one time Jo was the president of the Historical Society in Eureka Springs, and on the Planning Commission. He and his wife, Jerry, were founding members of the Ozarks Chorale. He sang in the Church Choir and served several terms as an active elder on the session in the First Presbyterian Church.
He served as president of the Opera Guild at Inspiration Point and loved listening to music, especially "The Messiah" by Handel and compositions by Mozart.
On October 23, 1943, Jo was united in marriage with Geraldine Ruth McClellan who survives him of the home. He is also survived by two daughters, Barbara Kennedy of Eureka Springs; Jeane Kennedy of Rogers, Ark.; one son, Jo Vickroy Kennedy and wife, Pat, of Georgetown, Texas; one sister, Ruth Evans of McKinney, Texas; granddaughter, Tracey Hanse and Gilbert of Malvern, Penn.; grandson, Thomas White and Saeko of Tokyo, Japan; grandson, David Kennedy White of Duvall, Wash.; granddaughter, Sarah Munsell and Tim of Nashville, Tenn.; great grandchildren, Chelsea Hanse, Tyler Hanse, Caley Hanse and Jonah Yamamoto; several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Katherine Bower and Mary Jane Shackelford.
