Blue movie in park unnecessary

Friday, June 22, 2012

Editor,

My wife and I looked forward with anticipation to the new movies-in-the-park season. We enjoyed the first movie, The Great Gatsby, and eagerly showed up last Sunday night for the next offering Hear My Song.

What we didn't anticipate was that within the first thirty minutes the audience would be exposed to the "F" word, sexual intercourse and full frontal female nudity.

I'm not a prude by any stretch of the mind. In my advanced years I've been many places, heard and seen most things, but I must say I was embarrased, not for myself but for my wife and any children who may have been in the audience.

Movies like this have a place but not in a public setting. I would think that the promoters of these movies in the park would exercise a bit of sensitivity because it is in a public setting. In silent protest we got up immediately and walked out. We'll be back next week but we'll be sitting on the edge of our seats.
