The Tulsa-based group's music draws on many styles of American music of the last 100 years, including blues, ragtime, rockabilly, hillbilly, punk and everything in between. They're known for playing hard and really getting the crowd going.
The Electric Rag Band's song structures and performances are a bit more complex than your average modern rock band. They don't fit easily into any established genre, and I would NOT expect to be bored or here anything formulaic here.
Influences range from country-blues artists like Blind Willie McTell and Big Bill Broonzy to newer acts like The Reverend Horton Heat and The Gourds.
The group has opened for such highfalutin' acts as Billy Joe Shaver, The Derailers, Split Lip Rayfield and Junior Brown.
The Colorado Springs Independent writes about the group: "The Electric Rag Band is the coolest band I've heard come through these parts in a long, long time."
And the music critic at the Tulsa World said: "Every band thinks it's a 'roots' band, but The Electric Rag Band has a pedigree even chemical stump-remover couldn't extract."
Check out a few of their songs below:
