The three-day event will go from Friday afternoon, Aug. 10 -- Sunday, Aug. 12 (see schedule below).
The triathlon will happen Friday, with the road bike tour rides and races on Saturday and the running races on Sunday.
"I raced last year," said Thomas Acord, an officer with the Eureka Springs Police Dept. "It really all started due to my love of bikes and racing. We have mountain cycling events around here but not a race for street racing. So I partnered with a promoter named Bruce Dunn who done numerous events in the area."
Acord said their goal was to create an event that would be solid and bring visitors to Eureka Springs for more than one night. "Something that will bring people here to eat, to try our overnight facilities, to check out downtown," said Acord. "People involved in these events bring a lot to Eureka Springs when they visit. They are no trouble for the police dept. either, and as long as we can show the community the extra traffic is worth it, I feel everyone will benefit."
Acord said last year nearly 400 people from seven states participated, almost double their expectations.
Athletes can participate in individual events or sign up for everything at once.
