Elvetta Marie (Fleming) Hysell, a resident of Eureka Springs, was born July 17, 1925 in Southard, Oklahoma, a daughter of Joseph Fenton and Ada (Crosby) Fleming. She departed this life Friday, August 24, 2012, in Eureka Springs, at the age of 87 years.
In 1930, Elvetta moved from Southard, Okla. to Kanopolis, Kan.. In 1945, she moved to Ellsworth, Kan. where she served as a Past Matron of the Eastern Star Chapter #44. In 1955, she moved to Enid, OK and worked for Champlin Petroleum for 30 years and OKLA Gas & Electric for five years. In 1995, Elvetta retired to Eureka Springs, where she was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Elvetta is survived by one daughter, Janet and husband Charles Epley; one son, Joe Hysell and wife Carla; two granddaughters, Jennifer Epley and Emily Hysell; three grandsons, Curtis and Chris Epley and Tyler Hysell; one great-grandson, Aro Epley; two sisters-in-law, Kathryne Fleming of Edmond, Okla. and Faye Young and her husband Lyle of Lawrence, Kan.; and a host of other loved ones and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fenton and Ada Fleming and one brother, Fenton Pearson Fleming.
Funeral service were held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 27, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church in Eureka Springs with Reverend Stan Adams officiating. Interment followed the service in the Eureka Springs Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.
