Laura Schoffner of Beaver Lake has intimate ties to two books published this summer: "My Dear Governess: The Letters of Edith Wharton to Anna Bahlmann" and "The Age of Desire," a novel with Wharton as the central character. Both are based on the 126 letters Wharton wrote, starting from age 12, to Schoffner's great-great Aunt Anna, letters that Schoffner found and saved from being thrown away when her parents' home was sold. Read about the family treasure that offers a unique view of America's premier woman novelist in the Sept. 20 Lovely County Citizen.

I was organist at St. James Episcopal Church in ES for many years. I have great regard for Laura Shoffner, both as a friend, dedicated Christian, and a wonderful writer. Laura deserves praise for all of her hard work and her strong faith.
