Local Carver Takes War Eagle Best in Show

Travis carves a bear in his outdoor work area next to his home on the east side of Eureka Springs. All his critters are carved out of red cedar, and are one of a kind.
The exhibit booth by Carvings by Travis, a local chainsaw woodcarver, took the Best in Show award at the War Eagle Craft Fair last weekend. Travis, who lives in Eureka Springs, was a first-time War Eagle exhibitor. People entered the booth he and his spouse, Becky, created through a gate guarded by a 5-foot bear and an eagle on a stump. Carved owls set atop the gate posts. An eagle soared overhead. Shelves decked with fir boughs and filled with bears, owls and other critters, all carved from cedar, formed the walls on either side of the gate. A final touch --Becky gathered fall leaves to sprinkle on the floor inside the entrance.

I love your send and I love Eureka Springs. My husband carved for about 32 years. We've traveled on vacation even as far as Quebec for his carving interests. He has a huge chisel-carved eagle, which eventually I will put on e-Bay. But what I wanted to say is why didn't you put the "Best of Show" carving Travis won with instead of an unfinished carving?
