For well over a decade, Bruce Levine has been Director of Eureka Springs Park & Rec. He is not, as he often points out, "the political arm" of the Parks & Rec Commission, which means he gets to roll up his sleeves a lot. His nominator put it straight up: "Bruce is not afraid to get down in the ditch and shovel **** with you. I've done it with him myself." Levine has shoveled a lot of red tape in his time as well. He was the go-to guy for Parks Commissioner Rachel Brix to get things in motion for the hoped-for dog park coming to Harmon Park. And he, along with Parks Chairman Bill Featherstone, was instrumental in putting together the Lake Leatherwood Master Plan and shepherding through the electorate the one-eighth of one percent sales tax that will bring in at least $100,000 per year for the park for the next four years. Thanks, Bruce.
