The first Citizen of the Week for 2013 is Pastor Randall Christy of the Gospel Station Network for spearheading an astonishing last-minute drive to raise $75,000 to save the Great Passion Play. Although the bank was set to take possession of the property on Jan. 2, Christy has received more than enough pledges (and hard cash!) to keep the play open. His ministry plans to get the play running again this year one way or another and to expand and refurbish it for future generations of visitors to enjoy. For this eleventh hour Hail Mary play and what it will mean to everyone in town who benefits from the big Jesus on the hill, we thank you.

Try as he will, the Cornerstone Bank won't fall for his attempts to save the GPP. Religion is OK, but, it is a business. Cornerstone Bank is in the business of making loans, and collecting on them when a business is in default. Pure and Simple.

Let us hope that people at the Cornerstone Bank have enough far sight to see how important it would be for everyone involved for Mr. Christy to be successful in his attempt to save the Great Passion Play. Sometimes the smartest person is the one with patience. I know in MY mine if someone in GOOD FAITH is working to save something like the Great Passion Play and making progress, if Cornerstone Bank would insist on foreclosing I would have to think VERY HARD if I would want to do business with them.
Congrates Rev.Christy for the first COTW of 2013. I'm so happy for The Passion Play and I feel only good ,positive thoughts towards a great season.
The Passion Play would have been terribly missed by so many.
My Best to you.
