Big awards for city

Friday, February 1, 2013

Three awards for the City of Eureka Springs were presented to Mayor Morris Pate at the Arkansas Municipal League Winter Conference in Little Rock on Jan. 17. The city won three awards in the cateogry for "Cities Under 5,000 Population": Eureka Springs was the "Green Initiatives" Winner; the "Tourism Development" Winner; and received Honorable Mention for "Main Street Preservation." The award applications were a joint effort of the Greater Eureka Springs Chamber of Commerce and the Office of the Mayor.

City of Distinction Award winners are chosen by an independent panel of judges who provide recognition to cities both large and small for their commitment to improving the lives of their residents and the health of their communities. The award sponsors are the Arkansas Municipal League and the Arkansas State Chamber/Associate Industries of Arkansas.

In addition to the actual awards, Arkansas Business magazine featured articles on all the winners in a large format, full-color supplement to the publication.
