Citizen of the Week

Wednesday, January 24, 2018

Mother Betsy Porter is this week’s Citizen of the Week. Porter was nominated

by Cheri Lacock, who said Porter is a familiar face at St. James Episcopal Church

where she is the assisting priest. Porter is very active in community outreach,

serves on the Flint Street Fellowship Board and has cooked and served there for

many years.

She started a Gospel Sing at Peachtree Village in Holiday Island, where singers

go monthly for fellowship with the residents, and has taken the lead on assembling

Christmas and Easter baskets for needy families in the community.

“She was honored on Jan. 21 with a ‘Mother Betsy Porter Sunday’ to thank her

for her continued ministry,” Lacock said. “To know her is to love her!”
