Lena May (Bailey) Bishop Ball, of Green Forest, Ark. was born Dec. 5, 1924 in Green Forest, Ark. to Jay and Mayme Augusta (Dahl) Bailey. She passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 19, 2018 at her daughter’s home in Green Forest at the age of 93 years.

Lena May was a member of the United Methodist Church in Green Forest and the Green Forest Ladies Guild. She loved fishing and enjoyed playing at casinos. She and her first husband, Floy Ray, owned Bishop Rexall Drug Store on the square in Green Forest for many years; she was known by those who visited the Drug Store for her beautiful smile. Lena May is the last of that era of Green Forest merchants to pass away.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Dianna Raye (Bishop) Sturtz and Chuck Baer of Green Forest; second husband, Phillip W. Ball of Springdale; sister-in-law, Glee (Bailey) Callen of Independence, Mo.; step-daughter, Diane (Clyde) Green of Memphis, Tenn.; her loving adopted second family, Larry and Marolyn Boggs, Jeff, Lana and Carter Boggs, Jack, Laurie, Emily and Ellie Monday; sister-in-law, Joann (Nat) Mack; brother-in-law, Ralph (Diane) Ball; two step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; Howellaster Barnard (one of her “Grands”) and Runtie the Cat, many other relatives, loved ones and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jay and Mayme Bailey; first husband, Floy Ray Bishop; brother, Jewell Robert Bailey; son-in-law, Elwood (Woody) Lee Sturtz; special nephew, Robert Kent Bailey; half-brother, Marvin J. Rodden and his wife Elva; Shyanne River (her other “Grand”); several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Visitation was Tuesday, October 23, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Nelson’s Green Forest Chapel. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Nelson’s Green Forest Chapel with Jeff Boggs and Kevin Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at the Pickens Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.
