Five and Dime to host fall production Nov. 8-10
The Five and Dime Drama Collective will host its fall production of six micro-plays Nov. 8-10. The fall production is titled "SHIFT" and features playwrights from around the world, including Arkansan Tayla Tate Boerner, whose contribution is "Last Call at the Dairy Freeze."
All the plays, whether they deal with family, former lovers, friends or pit bulls, present the audience with a different way to look at people and events and to enjoy the perspectives of the playwrights.
The plays will be performed in a new venue this year: the Center Stage Event Venue at 132 Huntsville Road in Eureka Springs. Also at the event, the 2019 Plein Air Open Competition will be available for viewing and purchase and the audience will have the opportunity to vote on their favorite local artist with more than $5,000 worth of prizes. A $1,000 prize will go to the people's choice local artist award.
Performance times are 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, and Saturday, Nov. 9. The matinee performance will be on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 and may be purchased at the door, Nibbles, Brews and The Statton Gallery or online at www.FiveAndDimeDramaCollective.org.
Five and Dime will also implement the Holt Awards this year in honor of Jim Holt, an avid supporter of local theater. The Holt Awards will be based on audience choices for best play, actor, actress, ensemble and director. The audience will also have a chance to vote on their favorite local charity this year. Five and Dime will make a donation to the charity with the most votes.
