Robert Ernest McPherson was born June 17, 1932 in East St. Louis, Illinois, son of Howard and Evelyn (Champ) McPherson. He grew up in East St. Louis where he graduated from East St. Louis High School. He enrolled at Central Methodist College is Fayette, Missouri and began working towards a degree in biology.

Bob, or Mac, as he was known to many, was drafted into the United States Army in 1953. On June 18, 1954, he was united in marriage to Doris L. Wallis at Webster Groves, Missouri. Shortly after the wedding, he was sent to Korea to serve during the Korean Conflict. After two years of active duty, Bob returned home and completed his Bachelor's Degree in Biology. He was honorably discharged from the Army on July 31, 1961.

Bob and Doris made their home in East St. Louis, Illinois where Bob went to work for the State of Illinois and FDA as the Certification Officer for Milk and Water labs. In 1970, Bob was transferred to the Department of Public Health in Springfield, Illinois, so they moved to Pleasant Plains, Illinois. While in Pleasant Plains, Bob became a Christian and joined the Peter Cartwright United Methodist Church, where he served in many different capacities, until the year 2000.

In 2000, they moved to Eureka Springs, Arkansas to be part of Kairos Christian Family Retreat Ministry and also worked at the Great Passion Play for 10 years. Here he was a member of the First Christian Church, serving as an elder.

In 2016, he and Doris moved to Sterling, Kansas until 2019, when they made their final home in Anthony, Kansas. They became members of the Anthony Christian Church.

Bob was a fan of sports. He was an avid golfer and loved spending time on the greens. He enjoyed fishing, even though he wasn't very good at it! He could often be found lost in a book, as reading brought him pleasure.

The most important thing in Bob's life was his family. He was a loving, dedicated husband and father. His grandchildren always put a smile on his face and brought him joy. He was amazed by his great-grandchildren, and thankful that he was able to spend time with them.
