Kresse honored at retirement party
After practicing medicine in Eureka Springs for 36 years, Dr. Gregory Kresse was honored with a retirement party on Saturday, Feb. 1, at the 1886 Crescent Hotel.
Dr. Kresse was joined by his wife Julie, daughters Sarah and Jessica, son-in-law Masumi and granddaughter Yuzu, as well as siblings, nieces, nephews, many friends and patients. His daughter Sarah flew in from California and his daughter Jessica and her family came from Colorado. It is estimated that 300 well-wishers filed in, greeting Dr. Kresse and his family.
Guest speakers for the evening included Sarah Kresse, Dr. Dan Bell and Dr. Kresse. After that, Washington Regional Medical Center's CEO, Larry Shackelford, awarded a plaque and timepiece to Dr. Kresse for his service to the community.
Also highlighting Dr. Kresse's beginnings here in Eureka Springs was a 1984 video of him as he was interviewed by KY3's Steve Grant, following Dr. Kresse's arrival in town. Attendees viewed that, along with photos of Dr. Kresse's parents, his childhood and siblings growing up, on a large TV screen delighting those who had never seen Dr. Kresse in earlier years with a full beard and mustache.
