An Oklahoma murder suspect was arrested Monday in Eureka Springs.

According to a news release from the Eureka Springs Police Department, ESPD was notified by authorities in Tulsa County, Okla., that a suspect named Aaron Welch was believed to be staying at a Eureka Springs hotel.

After confirming that Welch was at the hotel, ESPD requested the assistance of the Tri-City Response Team.

The special response team, composed of officers from the Berryville, Green Forest and Eureka Springs police departments, deployed to the hotel and Welch was taken into custody without incident, according to the news release. He was transported to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office for holding, the release says.

Welch, 36, was booked into the Carroll County Detention Center on Monday, according to the jail intake log.

The Tulsa World reported Tuesday that Welch is among eight people accused in the fatal gang-related beating of Jared Langworthy, 23, in December 2019. The newspaper cited the Tulsa County sheriff’s office as saying that all of the alleged assailants, as well as Langworthy, were affiliated with the United Aryan Brotherhood.

All eight of the alleged assailants have been charged with first-degree murder, the World reported.
