HI man sentenced to 10 years in prison
Jeremy Michael Pumphrey, 41, of Holiday Island was sentenced Wednesday, June 17, to 10 years in federal prison followed by five years of supervised release on one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
U.S. District Judge P. K. Holmes III sentenced Pumphrey at a hearing in Fort Smith.
Pumphrey was arrested on May 1, 2019. Carroll County Sheriff’s Office deputies and officers from the Eureka Springs Police Department went to a residence in Holiday Island to arrest Pumphrey for an outstanding felony warrant. As officers approached the residence, Pumphrey was observed running out the back door and carrying a backpack, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Arkansas. Officers located and arrested Pumphrey for the warrant. A search of the backpack resulted in officers locating four plastic bags of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, the news release says.
The suspected methamphetamine tested positive with a total weight of 31.82 grams, according to the news release.
Pumphrey was indicted by a federal grand jury in January and entered a guilty plea in February.
