Health unit to hold drive-thru COVID-19 testing on Aug. 7
By Haley Schichtl
The Carroll County Health Unit will hold a COVID-19 testing event from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7 at the Berryville Community Center.
Testing is free and no appointment is needed.
For those interested in volunteering at the event, call the Carroll County Health Unit at 870-423-2923 and ask for administrator Lisa Holt.
Holt said the test is a drive-through nasal swab, which will take three to five days to process.
"The patient will have to swab themselves; they do not get out of their vehicle," Holt said. "A nurse will walk them through it."
She said parents will also have to swab their children if they want them tested, and people who are disabled and unable to swab themselves should bring someone to help them.
"They will have to provide a physical location and a phone number. We will attempt to get them the results by phone. If not, we will send someone to their home," Holt said.
Holt said participants will not have to pay anything out-of-pocket, but they should bring their insurance cards if they have insurance.
"Insurance companies right now are more than willing to pay the cost for the tests," Holt said.
For those who want to get tested and cannot make it to the event, call the Carroll County Health Unit to set up an appointment.
