The National Main Street Center and Main Street Arkansas have awarded Main Street Eureka Springs a grant to conduct a strategic planning process to formulate a three-year road map to develop stronger programming, build new relationships and continue the economic development of Downtown Eureka Springs.

“We are entering our 14th year as a Main Street program and it felt like the time to reignite our organization through a strategic plan. We want to provide the best possible service to the community and to do that we need to reengage with them in a meaningful way and we want to strengthen our focus on the Main Street Four Points,” said Jacqueline Wolven, executive director of Main Street Eureka Springs.

Main Street Eureka Springs has hired Opportunity Strategies and is working with Alysia Cook to solicit feedback from a cross-section of the community that includes downtown property owners, business owners, stakeholders, community leaders and elected officials. Cook will be conducting private interviews and guiding the organization to incorporate that feedback into its strategic plan.

The goal of the strategic plan for Main Street Eureka Springs is to provide a clear path to creating meaningful impact for stakeholders in the district, growing the depth of the organization and understanding its role to best serve the community. The entire process will take three months and provide an implementation plan for the organization to work through. This process includes private interviews, board development training, a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) analysis and, finally, the development of the plan which will feature three to five focus areas for the organization. Each of the focus areas developed will follow the Main Street Four Point Approach to downtown development: economic vitality, design, promotion and organization.

  • Unfortunately I don't understand what specific concrete actions will result from this study. Do you think you could spell out some possibilities as to real life outcomes, please?
