Eureka girls lose at Pea Ridge

Thursday, November 25, 2021

Playing on the road against a Class 4A opponent, without two starters, three days after a 27-point loss.

That was the scenario confronting the Eureka Springs Lady Highlanders last Friday at Pea Ridge. And although Pea Ridge won the game 52-37, Eureka Springs coach Kyle Farrar was pleased with what he saw from his team.

“We went over there shorthanded and we did really well,” Farrar said. “There’s been very few games where we’ve had everybody there, but it’s a process. The kids are getting better. Hopefully we’ll get everybody on the court at the same time pretty soon and hopefully when that happens we’ll still be moving in the right direction.”

Eureka Springs played without starting forward Katie Farrar (knee) and starting point guard Brandessa Armer (illness). Kyle Farrar said Pea Ridge’s talent and depth were too much to overcome.

“We’ve got good teams in our conference but not to that level of athleticism and especially not that many players,” he said. “They just wore us out. We just smooth ran out of gas in the fourth quarter.”

Eureka Springs will host Decatur on Nov. 30.
