Woodie Acord is this week’s Citizen of the Week. Acord was nominated by Equity Bank president Elizabeth Kelley, who thanked Acord for his service on multiple charitable and civic organizations including 23 years of service on the Equity Bank board. After living in Eureka Springs since the 1980s, Acord will be moving soon to Oklahoma.
“He and his wife, Jane, helped fuel the economic engine of Eureka through Acord’s Hardware Store, the store they started and operated for over 30 years,” Kelley said. “He also impacted our community through service on the planning commission, the chamber of commerce, the Eureka Springs Episcopal Church and the Ozark Guidance Center board.”
