Local writer wins conference awards

Wednesday, October 24, 2007
Eureka Springs writer June Baldridge Freeman won two awards during the Ozark Creative Writers Conference, held at the Best Western Inn of the Ozarks, Oct. 11 through 13. Freeman placed third in the Caudle Memorial Award contest with her essay, “Would You Say That Again?” and won an Honorable Mention in the Tickle My Fancy Award contest with her entry, “Color Frenzy.”

“My husband was the inspiration for ‘Would You Say That Again?’ because he says that to me all the time,” she joked after the ceremony.

This was the second year Freeman had attended the conference, which drew approximately 125 visitors from five different states. For a complete list of contest winners, visit www.ozarkcreativewriters.org.
