Loretta Ann Eckelkamp was born on Feb. 17, 1924 in Electra, Texas. She was an infant who became a toddler who became a girl child, a teenager, a young lady and then a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.

She had soft hands, bright eyes, a quick smile and a unique and endearing sense of humor. She had the patience of Job, the compassion of Buddha and the parenting skills of Mother Mary.

Loretta was loved by all who knew her well and by those who met her only briefly. She was a home maker and sustainer, a great cook, an impeccable housekeeper and a classy dresser. She knew how to make everyone feel as if they were her "favorite" and each one know they were special. She was a Sweetheart! Loretta Farar was a living, breathing, spiritual human being who taught unconditional love by her inexhaustible example.

Loretta is survived by a legacy of love. Her tribe includes (but is not limited to) her sister, Emmie Johnson and brother Bud Eckelkamp, her children, Patt Farar-Milam, Donna Farar, Jude Farar, Richard Farar II and Bart Farar. She has 18 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and was expecting her second great-great-grandchild in December. She had more "adopted" family members than you can shake a stick at!

Loretta/Mother/Granny is being lifted up by all of us who love her and all of us who so sorely miss her presence. We only hope that in our strivings, we can come even close to being the leader and teacher she was to all of us. We send her home now with a blessing in her own words "Sweet Name of Jesus."
