Rachel Mae May died Sept. 4 after a long illness, at the Meadow View Nursing Home in Huntsville at the age of 90 years and 9 days.
She was born Aug. 26, 1918 in Coweta, Okla. to James L Pace and Sally P. (Gentry) Pace.
Rachel graduated from Bacone College in Muskogee, Okla. On Dec. 5, 1939, she married Rex May, who preceded her in death on Aug.4, 1995.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing her own clothes and quilting. She was a member of Granby Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church in Eureka Springs.
In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, James Pace.
She is survived by one son, James Rex May and Lorraine May, his wife, of Eureka Springs; four granddaughters: Kelle May-Garst and Michael Garst, her husband, of Denver, Colo., Kris May, of Denver Colo., Diane Sherman and Kenny Sherman, her husband, and Lois Koch, of Eureka Springs; and four great grandchildren: Amanda Sherman, Tonya Sherman, Bradley Lindblom and Katrina Baugh.
Services were held on Sept. 8 at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel in Granby, Mo. with internment in Granby Memorial Cemetery.
