John Eric Graves-Rich died on Sept. 19 at the Dallas Regional Hospital after a two-year battle with cancer. He was laid to rest at Restlan Gardens in Dallas on Sept. 22. He was born Oct. 8, 1968.
John made many trips to Eureka Springs to visit his mother, Billie Rich, accompanied by his three-year-old son, also named John. Future visits were planned so he could teach his son to fish, and there were plans to eventually move here.
John was a carpenter by trade and helped build many beautiful hotels and homes. He is remembered for his loving, caring ways, his generosity and his sense of humor.
John is survived by his grandmother, Norma Springer; his mother, Billie Rich; his father, N.L. Graves; his wife Juana; his son, John; two sisters, Andrea Grant and husband Don and Wendy Carlyle and husband Richard; four nephews, Joshua, Anthony, Andrew and Matthew; three nieces, Jessica, Christina and Donia; and three aunts, Sharlyn Garoitte, Lorraine Hart and Grace Ann Giles.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Otis Rich, Preston Giles and Gene Springer and grandparents N.L. and Bernice Graves.
