Wayne Daniel Birchfield, a resident of Eureka Springs, was born Sept. 16, 1939 in Eureka Springs, a son of Burt Robert and Gladys v. (Glocksien) Birchfield. He died on Tuesday, Dec. 9 at the age of 69.
Wayne was a member of the Christian Unity Church in Eureka Springs. He served in the United States Army during peacetime. Wayne enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching his hummingbirds. He loved to work in his garden and just being outside. Above all else, he loved being with family and friends. He was a Factory Production Superintendent for 15 years at Emerson Electric and 20 years at F.M. in Rogers.
On Feb. 4, 1962 he married Ruthie May (Jarnagan) Birchfield who survives him of the home. He is also survived by one daughter, Betty and husband Terry Clark of Eureka Springs; one son, Darryl Birchfield and wife Laura of Eureka Springs; one daughter-in-law, Tammy Birchfield of Centerton; one brother, Robert Birchfield and wife Brenda of Eureka Springs; two sisters, Eva Lou and husband Earl Crawford of Eureka Springs and Judie and husband Ed Robinson of Eureka Springs; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Harold Birchfield; and one infant brother.
Funeral services were held on Dec. 15 at Nelson's Chapel of the Springs with Rev. Earl Dean and Rev. Anthony Lane officiating. Interment followed in the Christian Unity Church Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service, Inc.
