Paul Owen Dicks, a resident of Eureka Springs, was born March 29, 1927 in Quincy, Iowa, a son of E.E. and Eula (Hancock) Dicks. He died on Tuesday, April 21 in Eureka Springs, at the age of 82.
Mr. Dicks was a member of the Free Methodist Church. He found a deep connection with God in the great outdoors, on horseback in the Colorado Rockies, Arkansas Buffalo National Park and from his front porch in Eureka Springs.
Paul was a retired military man who joined the Navy at 17, then the Army after WWII. He left for the war on LST #637, remaining on ship until the war was over in 1946. He was in the Asiatic Pacific Theater in occupied Korea.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Barbara Chambers, who survives him of the home. He is also survived by two sons, Paul E. Dicks of Bella Vista and J.R. and Brenda Dicks of Hayward, Calif.; his best friend "Buddy;" and a host of friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, E.E. and Eula Dicks, two brothers and three sisters.
A Gathering of Remembrance will be held Friday, April 24 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Chapel of the Springs in Eureka Springs under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.
