Citizen of the Week

This week's Citizen of the Week is Doug Stowe. He is a talented woodworker, insightful author, inspiring teacher and good neighbor, among his many other accomplishments. He founded the Clear Spring School's Wisdom of Hands program in 2001. On May 17, he was declared the 8th Arkansas Living Treasure by the Arkansas Arts Council (AAC). AAC executive director Joy Pennington said, "Doug Stowe serves as a wonderful role model in the field of traditional crafts. Through his dedication and focus, he learned to create outstanding work while also educating the younger generation about the importance of developing new hands-on skills." He also knows how to think inside, as well as outside, the box.
