Citizen artist wins 'Watercolor U.S.A. 2009' award

Citizen staffer Gary Adamson was recently honored by the organizers of the 48th annual, national, competitive exhibition of aqueous media painting, "Watercolor U.S.A. 2009," which opened at the Springfield Art Museum on June 6.

This year's exhibition attracted 659 entries from 357 artists from 42 states. A total of 155 works by 137 artists were accepted for the exhibition.

Adamson received the "Cheap Joe's Art Stuff Award" for his watermedia painting "Apples and Oranges."

Adamson is the creator of "Adamson's World" which appears each week in the Citizen.
