Vida Margaret Polk, a resident of Holiday Island and formerly of Green Forest, and long-time resident of Little Rock, was born Feb. 14, 1916, a daughter of John J. and Ida Neoma (Gipson) Matthews. She died on July 15 in Berryville at the age of 93.
Mrs. Polk was a member of the First Baptist Church of Green Forest and was a past member of the Home Demonstration Club for 55 years.
She is survived by three sons, James E. and wife Bonnie Polk of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., John S. and wife Sue Polk of Hot Springs and Lynn M. and wife Polly Polk of Green Forest; one brother, Jack Moncrief of Oklahoma City, Okla.; three grand daughters, Jamie Fox, Susan Van Dusen, and Sara Polk; four great granddaughters, Betsy and Mary VanDusen, Madyson and Hannah Fox; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband James K. Polk, infant daughter Mary Ruth Polk, three sisters, Ruby Burnett, Amma Southerland and Mary Frances McDonald and one brother, John L. Matthews.
Funeral services were held on July 18 at the Nelson Green Forest Chapel with Bro. Marvin Emmons and Rev. Chris Fox officiating. Committal followed at the Pine Crest Cemetery in Little Rock under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service, Inc.
