Pattie Louise Schumann, age 79, of Eureka Springs, died on Feb. 19 in Springfield, Mo. after a year-long battle following a stroke. She was born on June 11, 1930 in Oklahoma City, Okla. and was a resident of Oklahoma City for 70 years before moving to Eureka Springs in early 2001.

She worked for many years as a patient accounts manager in the largest hospital in Oklahoma, and had also worked as a church secretary while caring for her late husband, Denver F. Rhodes, after his own stroke.

Pattie loved to read, cook, cross-stitch, sing (especially old hymns and The Phantom of the Opera) and travel all around the world. She was a wonderful, loving, Christian lady who always thought of others before herself, and blessed the lives of countless others through her kindness, generosity and unending love.

She is survived by her son, Rick Yarber and his wife Tonia of Oklahoma City; her daughter, Ninette Rhodes of Eureka Springs; grandchildren Jason and Chrissy of Oklahoma City; great-grandson Tristin; and a host of other family and friends. She is also survived, most especially, by her two beloved little Pekingese dogs, Khloi and GiGi, who miss her very much and still cry for her, as we all do.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 17 at 2 p.m. at the First Assembly of God Church on Hwy. 23S. All those who knew Pattie are invited to attend, to celebrate her life that has passed and rejoice in her new life in Heaven with her Lord.
