Luella (Head) White

Luella (Head) White, a resident of Berryville, was born Sept. 13, 1932 in Yocum, a daughter of Arlis and Verna (Watkins) Head. She died on March 21 in Berryville at the age of 77.

Luella graduated from Blue Eye High School in 1951 and went on to graduate from Southern Missouri University. She taught at the Mo-Ark Academy in Blue Eye, Mo. She also was a substitute teacher for both Berryville and Blue Eye schools. She was an employee of Wal-Mart for 15 years and was also an active volunteer at the Carroll County Senior Center. She was active in promoting organ and tissue donation with the Mid-America Transplant Association and a member of Towering Oaks Church.

She is survived by three daughters: Shelly Weathereal and partner Dave Alldridge of Eagle Rock, Mo., Sheila and husband Joe Perkins of Berryville and Kara White of Eureka Springs; two sisters, Verna Dean and husband Zeb Johnson of Springfield, Mo. and Lucille Compton of Green Forest; six grandchildren, Shana (Stidham) Sugg, Tony Stidham, Sony Weathereal, Dusty Weathereal, Jeremy White and Kory Perkins; two step-grandsons, David Umland and Mark Keeth; four great-grandchildren; J Sugg, Lee Sugg, Amy Stidham and Marty White; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other family and friends.

On May 30, 1952 she married Loel "Curley" White, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her parents, one daughter, Debbie (White) Stidham, one son, David White and one sister, Ramona Humbard.

A celebration of her life was held on March 25 at the Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel with Pastor Larry Montgomery officiating.
