Three local arts' orgs get share of $1.2 million

Wednesday, July 21, 2010

The Arkansas Arts Council has awarded 92 grants to Arkansas organizations totalling $1,173,359 for fiscal 2011.

Receiving a slice of that pie are three Eureka Springs arts organizations: Eureka Springs School of the Arts, Inspiration Point Fine Arts Colony, and Eureka Springs Communication Arts Institute.

They are included in some 20 Northwest Arkansas arts programs receiving grants for education, preservation, and/or performance in disciplines including dance, writing, music, drama, painting/graphic arts, sculpting and other fine arts.

The Arkansas Arts Council was established in 1966 to enable the state of Arkansas to receive funds from the National Endowment for the Arts. In 1975, the Arts Council became an agency of the Department of Arkansas Heritage.
